Sea green and purple is a combination the Kanchipuram weavers have trusted for generations, and once you see it on the shoulder you understand why. Neither colour concedes.

The body is a soft sea green pure silk, scattered with small gold butis at regular intervals, edged in a temple-pointed line where the green meets the purple. The border is deep purple carrying heavy gold zari — paisley medallions, a checked ground, a running motif at the selvedge. The pallu turns fully purple and fully gold, panel after panel of brocade.

The blouse is purple silk with stone and bead work across the yoke, a fanned motif on each sleeve, and a shaped back neckline.
