The body is woven in that deep rani pink with gold checked motifs stepping up toward the border in a staircase. The border itself is a broad band of gold zari. The pallu shifts entirely — undyed tussar in its natural tan, striated and irregular the way real tussar always is, carrying a column of pink woven squares and finished with a twisted fringe.

The blouse is where the work lives. Bottle green silk, embroidered in silver thread with vines, leaves and a pair of facing birds, with rose-pink blooms scattered through the sleeves. Green against rani pink is an old pairing and a confident one.
